How do i get wrinkles out of Bates service shoes?
Q. I am a member of an AFJROTC in California. After serving a year in the corps, normal wear and tear on the shoes include worn tread and unexplainable wrinkles and bumps. I know that there is no solution to repair the tread on the shoes, however, I would like to know how to get the bumps and wrinkles off of the shoes to make them look in good repair. How would I go about taking the wrinkles out of my shoes?

A. I've never tried it myself but I heard the old school (colgate) shaving foam is supposed to help with that.

How much is too much when it comes to wrinkles at the bottom of your jeans?
Q. You know the skinny jeans a lot of people are wearing these days? Have you seen pictures of people wearing them with high tops or too long? Well they wrinkle up a bit and sometimes a lot, how much is too much though? I think it looks best with just a few wrinkles, but some modles wear them with so many wrinkles that they sort of stick out a bit on the side. I guess it's up to the person wearing them, but what do you think?

A. One of the beauties of skinny jeans is the long leg look. I think you need some slouching or wrinkles. Too much stacked up at the ankles detracts from that "leg that goes forever look" So check yourself out in the mirror and see if you are highlighting what you want. but avoid the elephant leg look.

I need help getting rid of wrinkles on my hockey jersey numbering?
Q. I recently got one of those new Edge jerseys. Not only is the fabric thin, but the numbering is flimsy as well. So flimsy, that the numbers wrinkle up whenever I sit on the couch or the jersey folds in the least. How do I get rid of the wrinkles on the numbering? Thanks.

A. Ironing it will be your 2nd best bet, the first thing you should do is send it back to the company and buy a good CCM jersey. RBK is junk.

How can I remove wrinkles in my skirt?
Q. I love to wear skirts, dresses and heels (especially during the summer). I sit down a lot at my desk, but have to go and meet with other professionals throughout the day. I feel totally embarrassed when my skirt/dress is wrinkled. And it seems no matter how much I try to sit in a way that the skirt will not wrinkle, it only makes it worse. Does anyone know of a starch or home remedy to rid wrinkles out of my skirts? Okay, to clarify my question ... yes I know how to use an iron or dryer to rid my skirts and dresses of wrinkles. WHILE I'M AT WORK, what's a good way to get rid of wrinkles that accumulate while I'm sitting at my desk?

A. Downy Wrinkle Release works wonders! ETA: You use it by itself. It's not something that you put on before you iron or before you put in the dryer. That's why I suggested it. It works straight from the bottle. It's a great thing to keep in your desk at work. Here's a link: I hope this helps.

How do I get the wrinkles out of the button flap on my dress shirts?
Q. Every time I wash my dress shirts, the button flap folds itself in half or sticks out--this goes from the collar to the bottom of the shirt! I don't have an iron, but there has to be an easy way to keep it straight without ironing it. Maybe hanging it by the shower or re-drying it with a damp towel? These folded wrinkles are pretty hardcore, so I feel like those may not do the trick. Any suggestions :) ?
Asked by Patrick - Mon Apr 13 19:11:37 2009 - Cleaning & Laundry - 2 Answers - Comments
A. You could try Downy Wrinkle Releaser but I don't know if that will work. I think you are going to be stuck ironing. I use a craft iron that is made for quilting to do small hard-to-reach areas like the button flap. They're about $20 at craft stores. Seems like a quick iron job is going to be quickest vs. trying to steam them out.

How do you stop wrinkles developing and increasing day by day under your eyes?
Q. I have these horrible wrinkles under my eyes that are getting on my nerves, I look old. How do I get rid of them without surgery, please help!

A. Find an eye cream. Wrinkles and fine lines are worsened by dryness. Many lines offer eye creams. When you use it, but it only around the orbital bone (bone that surrounds your eyes). The warmth from your skin will bring the cream closer to the eyes. If you put it too close, it could irritate your eyes. A firming eye cream would be best, but they usually aren't very cheap.

How do I get wrinkles out of a vinyl table cloth?
Q. I bought vinyl as fabric (by the yard) to use as table cloth on a very long (11-foot) table. I ended up buying everything they had an that roll, and the remainder of it was rather wrinkled. How can I remove those set-in wrinkles? Iron? Steam? It's at the vacation home, so I don't have very many gadgets there (but I do have an iron). I need to be careful not to damage the vinyl. Thanks!
Asked by curious1223 - Mon Oct 8 15:15:27 2007 - Cleaning & Laundry - 8 Answers - Comments
A. A blow dryer would be safer. I've gotten wrinkles out of vinyl by holding a blow dryer set on the hottest temperature over the vinyl and pulling the wrinkles out. I think you could probably do the same thing with a steam iron by holding it above the table cloth and bursting the steam and pulling, but watch out that you don't burn your hands. Or protecting the table cloth with a terry towel above and below it while using the hot iron.

How do you get wrinkles out of a suit with OUT going to the dry cleaners?
Q. I bought a suit today because I have an interview on Monday. The suit is wrinkled and the store wouldn't steam it for me. I can't find any dry cleaners that are open on Sundays (I live in Fort Lauderdale, FL - if you know of any, please let me know). Is there anyway I can press or get the wrinkles out of the suit myself?
Asked by sharlene c - Sat Dec 1 20:45:53 2007 - Cleaning & Laundry - 6 Answers - Comments
A. Put it in a closed bathroom with the shower going and let the steam get the wrinkles out. Or, go to Target or Walmart and buy a Clothes Steamer...it's pretty inexpensive. You can also put a semi-thick towel over it and steam it with the iron filled with water (press the steam button). Good luck on your interview!

A. maybe your skin type is dry skin. dry skin tends to get wrinkle sooner than oily skin. since you're only 14, maybe your "wrinkles" can be erased as long as u have the right beauty regime to add moisture to your skin. some of my suggestions: 1. don't use facial foam or bar, gel or milk cleanser type is better. 2. use moisturiser at least twice a day. water-based type is preferred. no need for serum coz you are still young 3. drink a lot of water n eat vitamin c 4. reduce facial expression on your forehead.. if you think or stress about something, then if lines appear.. try to reduce it by look in front of you at a broader view. it'll help! 5. don't sleep on the same side everyday, or else your smile line will appear even you are… [cont.]

How can I get wrinkles out of a wool coat?
Q. At the end of last winter I stored my wool coats in a large luggage bag, along with some winter clothes. I just took them out and all the coats have wrinkles on them. Can I iron them with a warm iron or will that ruin the wool? How can I get these out?

A. If you iron it will put a sheen on the wool, try hanging them in the bathroom when you take a long hot shower, the steam from the shower may help remove the wrinkles if you leave it hang for awhile after the shower.
