What is the best eye cream to prevent first signs of aging?
Q. I am 27 and first crow feet as well as some mimic lines ( I have high cheekbones, and when I smile or laugh lines do appear around my eyes) are starting to appear under eyes area. I don't want to overkill using serum creams and other heavy stuff, that is intended for aging sking. Regular eye cream doesn't seem to work. I tried Neutrogena, natural appricot cream (better botanicals) and Aveeno eye brightening cream - didn't see any difference. What ingredients should I look for? Is alpha-hydroxy for more mature skin? How about Q10 ingridient? Please help.

How affects aging to women who depend on their looks?
Q. Dancers, strippers, escorts, actresses, etc, how do they deal with aging? Do they suffer a depression when they turn 40? Do they change their mindset and priorities?

A. You mean narcissists, and they don't do well at all. No. Female actors are artists, not strippers. Plenty of "actresses" (this term is not used in the industry) become involved in all kinds of charity work. Brigit Bardot has been for many years a tireless advocate for animal rights. I believe Shirley Temple Black even became US Ambasador to the United Nations. *She did, under the Nixon Administration.

When is a good age to start using anti-aging skin products?
Q. I'm only 25 and I defiantly don't look old, but i'm starting to notice some things different and not in a good way. I just want something as a preventative measure. So i'm just curious at age 25 what anti-aging products would be good. I have fair, combination skin and still break out pretty regularly. Also I already use sunscreen every day. Any suggestions on products, certain ingredients or regimens would be appreciated.

How to prevent signs of aging?
Q. I am 24 and I am concerned about wrinkles and all the other fun stuff that comes with aging. I am already starting to get dark circles around my eyes and have noticed lines on my forehead appearing. 1/2 white & 1/2 mexican so no matter how much sunblock I put on I still manage to tan when out in the sun. I've always looked younger than I am and would like to keep it that way. Any suggestions.

A. Use moisturiser every day before you go to sleep. Keep going with the sunblock, eat really fresh food so your body doesn't have to work hard to digest it (making chemicals that age you) and drink water. Also try to maintain a healthy weight.

How can i prevent aging while im still young?
Q. Im 15, and I know it sounds TOTALLY ridiculous, but I wouldn't mind taking a couple small measures right now to stop from aging too quickly. My grandma told me, that if you start when you are young, you wont have to try and stop it when you are older. What should I use, and what do they do? What kind of products?
Asked by TennisStar! - Sun May 31 20:31:00 2009 - Makeup - 4 Answers - Comments

A. That's a great idea! I wish I had thought of that when I was 15 (I'm 20 now). You really should start when you're about 18, making sure that you're mature, but there's no reason you can't do a little bit. First thing: healthy diet. Drink lots of water and some teas (try decaffeinated). Try green and white teas, they're filled with antioxidants. Stay away from coffee and soda, and try to find substitutes for meat and dairy products (obviously you don't have to become vegetarian or vegan, but a lot of those lifestyles are healthier). Make sure you're getting the proper servings of fruits, veggies, whole grains, etc. every day. Work out, but wash your face afterwards. Sweat will clog pores and cause breakouts. When applying make up, don't tug… [cont.]

How do you hang picture molding on aging plaster walls?
Q. How do you hang picture molding on aging plaster walls? I need to install picture molding on old plaster walls, but am not confident once the job is done and the first heavy picture is hung the whole system won't come crashing down. How do you know if you use a finish nailer and 2" nails that you have hit anything strong enough to hold up pictures, or do or can you use the trusty stud finder technique. Helpful hints or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Asked by michaelsan - Thu Aug 23 23:13:31 2007 - Decorating & Remodeling - 2 Answers - Comments

A. Fastening molding to plaster walls. Yes, you can use a stud finder. The newer electronic stud finders work well. I would also glue the molding to the plaster. Todays glues hold well. Additional hints- You can cut the head off the finish nail and put the nail in a drill to spin the nail in. This will help keep the plaster from cracking. You can also predrill the hole with a regular drill bit. If you are using a nail gun, the nails are thin enough and fire in fast enough that the plaster does not usually crack. These nails hold very well as the bend and twist as they go into the wood. I have a picture molding that I installed this way in my home. I have a very heavy mirror and frame hanging from it. It holds well. Good luck and Have fun!

A. You should do a Google Search "Skin harming ingredients in skin products" and you will see there are many of them in some of the most widely used and well known products. That is why many are now buying non harmful products. You can find those with another search "safe, non harming skin products" and refine search by adding "low cost and available in stores " to your search. And if you buy sunblocks higher than spf 30 they will clog pores and can result in skin irritation and so are not good to use. Spf 30 provides adequate protection if applied as frequently as recommended. Many are also using natural products like essential oils which are non harming better moisturizers than any moisturizer products. They… [cont.]

What effect does telomerase have on aging?
Q. I know that it is supposed to have some effect on aging, but does it speed up aging or delay it? Also, can I get a little more detail on how it works as well?
Asked by Eric A - Wed Dec 31 00:34:20 2008 - Biology - 2 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Telomerase is an enzyme that slows aging. It adds a sequence of A's and T's (adenines and thymines) onto the end of DNA, because every time a cell duplicates a bit of end DNA is lost. As long as the end of DNA is this "junk" DNA, made by telomerase, (each repeating sequence is called a "telomere"), there is no damage to the genes in the DNA, but as you age the telomeres are used up and genes are damaged. The body begins to age because its DNA blueprints are being destroyed. If we could somehow get telomerase to work indefinitely in the cells, we could have eternal youth. But it has been shown that this enzyme can cause cancer and isn't safe to add to the body.. and probably wouldn't work anyways.

A. Many people are too naive to think about nurse shortage, when they try to get in, and Big surprise to find out : Nurse is very hot, and very difficult to get in Nurse in California. All colleges are 4 to 10: 1, so some schools do lottery, some schools do waiting list around 3 to 5 years. Nurse is very hot, many first year graduates get $80K/ year ,average $120,000 in CA. Why they keep shortage, because Nurse Association is MOST powerful union, and they can get better bargain in shortage situation. But be aware, many hositals will cut nurse salary in next a few year, because so many lost jobs, no job means no insurance, they will not either seeking medical care or without paying bill, who can afford $14,000/year medical insurance for a… [cont.]

A. The skin under the eye is thinner than the rest. Hence blood passing through veins under it gives it a blue tinge which appears as dark under eye circles. Also the skin under the eye is more vulnerable to sun tanning than the rest of the skin on the body elsewhere. Rubbing or scratching the eye too tends to darken the skin under it. Medication causing the blood vessels to dilate allow increased blood flow through the veins which shows under the eyes the most, in the form of dark under eye circles. Lack of nutrition causes discoloration of the area under the eyes. Lack of sleep or excessive fatigue causes skin to turn pale and as it does so, the blood under the skin below eyes shows more as a dark patch than anywhere else on the body. The… [cont.]
